Dr. Cingolani is an Associate Professor at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Division of Cardiology. He earned his medical degree from Universidad Nacional de La Plata, Argentina, and completed his Internship and Internal Medicine Residency at CEMIC, Buenos Aires, Argentina, and hypertension research post-doctoral fellowship at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, MI. After completing his Internal Medicine Residency at The Reading Hospital and Medical Center in Pennsylvania, Dr. Cingolani joined The Johns Hopkins Hospital as a Cardiology fellow, where he remained in the Faculty after his training. Currently, he is the Associate Director of The Johns Hopkins Hospital Coronary Care Unit, Director of the Hypertension Program and member of the Echocardiography Lab and Outpatient Cardiology Clinic. He also teaches pathophysiology to medical students. He is also Director of the Cardiology Division weekly Grand Rounds. Dr. Cingolani’s research interests focus on hypertension, hypertensive heart disease, and its transition to heart failure. His research has been mainly supported by the National Institute of Health (NIH), the Mirowski discovery award, Magic that Matters Fund, PJ Schafer award and Dunk Hypertension Fund, among others. He is also the principal investigator of the DREAM study group, studying the effetct of Melatonin in preventing cardiac arrhythmias in patients undergoing cardiac surgery. This work has been presented at the 2016 European Society of Cardiology meeting in Rome. Dr. Cingolani has been recognized by the Council for High Blood Pressure Research of the American Heart Association for his work in hypertension and is the 2011 recipient of the PJ Schafer Memorial Heart Research Award, the 2012 Michel Mirowski Discovery Fund Award, and 2013 and 2014 Magic that matters Fund. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Diseases. During the Covid pandemic, Dr. Cingolani played an important role as a communicator in TV and radio health programs for Latin America, as well as for hispanics in USA. He and colleagues were among the first ones to describe the association between severe Covid and obesity (published in the journal Lancet). He also described the relationship between Covid and aging (JAMA) as well as the early echocardiographic findings in patients with Covid (Journal of Cardiac Failure). The Johns Hopkins Hypertension Center is currently offering a pharmacogenetics-based approach to certain patients with difficult-to-treat hypertension as well as telemedicine services; another ongoing research project.

Kassem Safa, MD is an associate transplant nephrologist at the Transplant Center at Massachusetts General Hospital since 2015 and an Assistant Professor in Medicine at Harvard Medical School. He also serves as the Kidney Transplant Program Associate Director for Living Donation. Dr. Safa received his medical degree from the Lebanese University School of Medicine and completed an internal medicine residency at the Saint Raphael Campus of the Yale-New Haven Hospital. He trained in nephrology at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and the Massachusetts General Hospital joint fellowship program. He completed a transplant nephrology fellowship at the Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Safa is a Fellow of the American Society of Nephrology and the American Society of Transplantation and is a recipient of several teaching awards during residency, and fellowship, as well as a faculty member. He has written numerous articles and book chapters; his interests include clinical transplantation, living donor kidney transplantation, and the effect of dietary habits on the immune system.

Nephrology

Martin Prázný is a Professor of Internal Medicine at the First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic. He currently serves as a Senior Consultant in diabetes, Head of the Diabetes Unit of the Third Department of Internal Medicine, and Head of the Diabetes Centre of the General Faculty Hospital in Prague. Dr. Prázný graduated from the First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University, in 1997. He continued to study at Charles University, completing a CSc scientific degree in internal medicine and a Ph.D. in biochemistry. While obtaining his Ph.D., he published several original papers on the microvasculature, endothelial function, and oxidative stress in diabetes and other endocrine disorders. He undertook a research placement at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden, where he investigated the genetic causes of vascular complications in diabetes. Prof Prázný is a member of the Czech Diabetes Society, the European Society for Microcirculation, and the European Association for Study of Diabetes. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh. He published more than 80 articles in scientific journals, has more than 840 citations, and has an H-index of 18. With his research group, he is now investigating the effects of glucose variability in glucose control and diabetes complications and supporting the implementation of technologies in diabetology including continuous glucose monitoring and automated insulin delivery. He also intensively participates in postgraduate education aimed at the treatment of type 1 and type 2 diabetes and complex prevention of diabetic complications.

Christopher Bryant has a PhD from the London School of Economics and Political Science (1970) and has been Professor at the Universities of Waterloo (1070-1990) and Montréal (1990 to 2014) and is currently Adjunct Professor, School of Environmental Design and Rural Development, University of Guelph (1912 onwards), and he is also Adjunct Professor, Geography Department, University of Montreal (2014 onwards). Christopher Bryant has published 121 articles in different journals, 175 book chapters, 32 books and monographs; 27 Reports to different governments and agencies; 64 other publications; and 25 book reviews; and he has made over 560 presentations during his career. His fields of research are: agriculture and food production in and around cities and metropolitan centers; food security; community development; land use planning; strategic development planning for communities, organizations and agriculture; sustainable development; resilience building for communities exposed to flooding and climate variability; adaptation of agriculture and tourism development to climate change and variability. He is placed in the top 5% of the over 15 million researchers on Research Gate.

I was a general surgeon in Italy and the USA, I have often been in the United States to deepen my skills. In 2010 I graduated from Master's Degree in Population Nutrition and Food Safety and became a nutritionist. During the master I have mainly studied the skills on human micronutrition; subsequently I was a speaker several times at the international NUTRIMI congress, I wrote in Italian magazines for national dissemination, but above all I forged myself with the title of contract professor from 2013 at the Master 2 level in Food quality and safety University of Padua. I am co-supervisor of numerous Master's theses. In 2013 I was invited to report on micronutrition at the Miller school of Miami Diabetes Institute.

Rahnfong Lee has completed his Ph.D. in 1988 at the age of 27 years from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, USA. He is the Adjunct Professor at National Taipei University of Technology, Taiwan. He has worked over 20 years in the industry of glucose monitoring, and has filed over 50 patents worldwide. He is currently assisting companies in Algeria and Saudi Arabia to locally produce glucose monitoring systems with new technologies, such as 100% non-destructive online quality check on every test strip to identify bad strips and fix them with laser technology to become good strips. He is the first one to produce glucose test strips with gold plated printed circuit boards.
